Beatles IQ Challenge

Some of you guys have probably seen this already. If not, follow this link. I thought it was pretty fun:

http://www.thebeatlesrockband.com/iqchallenge

My 2nd score was a pitiful 148 (29/50, I think). My fist score doesn't count because I was interrupted right in the middle.

Merry Christmas to all!

Revenge

A musician named Dave Carroll recently had difficulty with United Airlines. United apparently damaged his treasured Taylor guitar during a flight.. Dave spent over 9 months trying to get United to pay for damages caused by baggage handlers to his custom Taylor guitar. During his final exchange with the United Customer Relations Manager, he stated that he was left with no choice other than to create a music video for Youtube exposing their lack of cooperation. The Manager responded : "Good luck with that one, pal". So he posted a retaliatory video on Youtube. The video has since received over 5.5 million hits. United Airlines contacted the musician and attempted settlement in exchange for pulling the video.Naturally his response was: "Good luck with that one, pal". The Taylor Guitar Company sent the musician 2 new custom guitars in appreciation for the product recognition from the video that has lead to a sharp increase in orders.

Here's the video ....

new CHEAP TRICK

In a reprisal of their wildly successful sold-out concerts, Cheap Trick salutes the 40th anniversary of the Beatles' seminal Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album with a dynamic track-by-track rendition that features the New York Philharmonic orchestra, an Indian music ensemble and an array of several very special guests. At the helm is none other than the legendary Goeff Emerick, who engineered the Fab Four's definitive album in 1967, and brings and exciting authenticity to the celebration. Cheap Trick genuinely infuse their brand of Beatlesque power pop into a live tribute that pays homage to their musical influences, by capturing the essence of an album that changed music history. Never before performed live in its entirety by the Beatles, this footage is an exclusive opportunity to hear the complete Sgt. Pepper album performed live by Cheap Trick, bringing the band full-circle in a chilling tribute to their musical heroes.

Inviting new people to be authors

If you guys want other people to be authors of the blog let me know e.g. Jimmy Z or Gary.... I can invite them and so can Den and Tom as they are administrators also.

JC&TR - "Temptation/25" (live)

the quality of the recording sucks and the slapback reverb on the lead vox is about as annoying as it gets, but after the chatter about this medley i thought i'd go ahead and post it...

The Death of Mistakes Means the Death of Rock

Good article about over fixing and correcting:

The funny thing is I've listened to Rain so many times for so long I don't even hear the mistakes. It's just how the song is played. Then when you hear people cover it they intentionally play the mistakes. Weird.

JC&TR - "Signed Sealed Delivered"

this is the last of the studio demos that i have...we also recorded "poor poor pitiful me", but haven't seen a final mix of it...

Change to Comments Setting

All, I made a change to the comments setting so that it takes you to a new page when posting comments. I did this because the 'embedded' option causes problems occasionally, particularly with some browsers.

I'm confused - HELP

I haven't been able to listen to anything except Jesus is my friend - thanks for that (sarcasm). How does this thing work???

And another thing...The comments to each individual post are not displayed so you don't know if there have been any new comments to a posts.

WTF???

jeff's icon

jba...why is your icon a picture of me? i understand the temptation of wanting to be me...or be like me...but doesn't this go a little too far?

trying this again...

JC&TR - "Temptation Eyes"

i had never heard this song before one of the guys suggested it...it's from the late 60s or early 70s...during a show, we went right from this into "25 or 6 to 4"...our guitarist flat fucking nails it...

Library III

The wife and I celebrated the 17th last weekend by a trip to the Library. Lots of interesting books to read but I didn't read any. Same place, same entertainment area, same tiny tables in the lounge, same pictures on the walls, same great food.

My God it takes me back! I half expected Lax and company to show up for the entertainment.

Jimmy Cav & The Racket - "Rock Steady"

i hope this works...it wouldn't let me cut and paste the code from JBA's email...WTF?

blah, blah, blah...

no, i don't have more important things to do...in fact, i have NOTHING to do...except keep the barrel from pointing at anything important (relax...taking poetic license for effect...exaggeration is my specialy)...

i'll try posting some post-mortum tunes from The Racket sometime later...

Substar test

I was trying to post my file as a comment and not as a new post.

Anyway, I always meant to play this on the podcast but kept forgetting about it:

Here's the lyrics so you can sing along:

Vulcanize the whoopee stick
In the ham wallet

Cattle prod the oyster ditch
With the lap rocket

Batter dip the cranny ax
In the gut locker

Retrofit the pudding hatch
Ooh la la
With the boink swatter

If i get you in the loop when I make a point to be straight with you then
In lieu of the innuendo in the end know my intent though
I brazillian wax poetic so hypothetically
I don't wanna beat around the bush

Foxtrot Unifrom Charlie Kilo
Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo

Marinate the nether rod
In the squish mitten

Power drill the yippee bog
With the dude piston

Pressure wash the quiver bone
In the bitch wrinkle

Cannonball the fiddle cove
Ooh la la
With the pork steeple

If i get you in the loop when I make a point to be straight with you then
In lieu of the innuendo in the end know my intent though
I brazillian wax poetic so hypothetically
I don't wanna beat around the bush

Foxtrot Unifrom Charlie Kilo
Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo

Put the you know what in the you know where
Put the you know what in the you know where
Put the you know what in the you know where
Put the you know what in the you know where pronto

Tom's test post
